The News Is Good!

Bike

Well, Wednesday was the day. David went to Cheshire Medical, spent 40 minutes in a tube lying perfectly still to have an MRI done on his head, neck and shoulders. He has been having a lot of pain in his neck and shoulder area for a while now. We met with the doctors this past Thursday. The news was good! Everything looks as it should in his neck. We where concerned that the metal pins or his spin was not lined up the way it should. The only problem they found is with his shoulder that he had previously injured in a skate boarding accident. Doctors recommendation is to keep stretching out and working out. The shoulder is just taking more time to heal.

Also this week he had the motors replaced in his manual wheelchair. It has been two and have years and he has put a lot of miles on them. His wheelchair is faster than it was before, and David is pleased.

Yesterday David picked up the mountain bike that is going to raffled off at his 5K FUN RUN to be held this coming Saturday, August 30th behind Keene High School. Pictured above with David is Andy of Andy’s Cycle. Andy has been a big supporter of David’s and we are all very grateful. Thank you Andy!

There are many, many more items being raffled off.

If you can’t run you can walk, if you can’t walk you can hang out with me at the start / finish line to cheer all the runners and walkers on to the finish line. http://www.davidsjourneytorecovery.com/funrun2014.html

Registration starts at 8:00 a.m.
Run/Walk starts at 9:30 a.m.
Entry fee: $15 18 an under $10

This is David’s biggest event of the year. We are trying to raise money to get David out driving his own car.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

David Has Been Working Hard!

hill

This past Wednesday Barbara and I went with him to the far side of the Target parking lot. From there he pushed himself out to the bike trail in the back and up and over the bridge that spans routes 10 & 9. I was amazed as he pushed himself up that bridge.

David is taking advantage of the good weather to get out and push. You may see him on the side of the road, downtown or on the bike trail. His manual wheelchair is becoming a big part of his workout and getting around. He could not have gotten this far without the help of his many supporters. Thank You!

Lately David has been having a lot of neck pain. Last night he was hearing clicking noises in his neck when he moved it. The pain was becoming more severe so Barb called the doctor. His doctor recommended that he come into the Emergency room to check things out. As a result of his accident David has a small metal rod and screws in his neck. At this time they are recommending that he get a MRI next week to see how things look in his neck and see a neurologist. We will keep you all posted.

YES, There is a 5K FUN RUN on August 30th. Mark that date down, get your teams together, and come on out for a good cause.

All money raised will go towards getting David behind the wheel of his own car.

That is all for now…

As always, thank you for caring and thank you for your support.
