David Passes His Driving Evaluation!

David Passes His Driving Test

Today at around 2 pm David got behind the wheel of a car and drove for the first time since his accident.

Donald Sampson from CMSC came by the house to evaluate David to see if he would be able to drive on his own.

David was a little nervous at first but had no problem driving Don’s van around the neighborhood. He did so well that Don said he can recommend David for driving. Yeah! David is very excited.

The next step is raising the funds so David can buy a vehicle that he can drive on his own. He will also need specialized driving lessons.

Without your support this would not be happening.

Thank you!

Update From The Hudgiks • October 14th

oliver

Not all Days are good days. Today I was deeply saddened to learn that Mr. Oliver Michael Mancoon, the family pet cat, was struck and killed by a passing car. Oliver is a stray cat that David’s mom took in two years ago while we where living on Main Street across from the college. When he first came to us he was starving and very stand offish. Barbara would sit outside on the ramp and hand feed him until over time he came to love her and his new family. This was a cat that became so attached to Barbara he would follow her around on walks and sleep with her at night. In and out of the house wherever Barbara was the cat was there to. We are all in shock and will greatly miss our cat friend named Oliver.

The picture above was taken this past weekend. David’s friend Will stopped by while he was home from college for the weekend. The cat in David’s lap is Oliver.

Not all days are good days but, I know there are more good days to come. Just not today.

I will be posting more soon.

Update From The Hudgiks • October 9th

Mikayla, David and PYes, it has been a long time since I have done an update. For a while my computer was not working right and have been very busy at work. Time to catch up a little.

Things have been very quite here lately. Most of David’s friends have gone off to college, are traveling or have gotten busy one way or another with their lives. This is a big change from this summer.

David did not get an opportunity to get evaluated for driving back on September the 24th. The van they use for the evaluation was in the shop getting fixed. He is rescheduled for Monday October the 20th, and YES he is still excited about the prospects of driving in the near future.

During the week David is taking classes at Keene High School. He is working hard to catch up on the work he missed while he was recovering from his accident. He is still working hard to get stronger. He works out daily in his basement gym or around town on his manual wheelchair.

As a family we need to sit down this weekend to figure out how much more he needs to get himself out on the road driving.

We are currently looking for more ideas on how to raise funds. Any and all ideas are always appreciated.

The picture above is of his friend Mikayla, who was home for the weekend visiting from college, and his friend Peter, who was returning from his summer job on the coast.

More updates coming soon.

Thank you for your interest, help and support.
